Writer, are you stuck? *Sharing a fun find*

Updated: Sep 30, 2020

Some writers will complain that they have writer's block. I've heard it said that there's no such thing. If you're a writer, you write. After all, plumbers don't get plumber's block. Dentists don't get dental block.

Whether you believe in writer's block or not, there are ways around feeling blocked. I've previously discussed strategies to overcome writer's block and how to find refreshing story ideas when the well's run dry.

I recently stumbled on a fun tool to get you going. Have you ever heard of Language is a Virus? It's a fun website with writing prompts, word games, and exercises to get you going. Sometimes all you need is some time to play with words. This site gives you the inspiration and material to do that.

I've enjoyed the prompt generator. Here are some examples:

  • Describe ways in which your character does or doesn't show honor.

  • What promises do you make to yourself?

  • I am optimistic that...

  • Describe ways in which your character does or doesn't show morality.
