Welcome, Jennifer Slattery

Do you like Christmas-themed books? In the past few years, I've started reading Christmas novels, and it's become a yearly tradition for me. So, I'm happy to introduce you to Jennifer Slattery, whose contemporary romance, Christmas on the Ranch, recently released.

Jennifer, what is your favorite turn of phrase or word picture, in literature or movie?

Oh, this is hard as I’ve read so many great books and watched so many wonderful movies over the past year alone! Can I share more than one? From John Mark Comer’s Practicing the Way, “For Jesus, salvation is less about getting you into heaven and more about getting heaven into you.” From David W. Augsburger, Caring Enough to Hear and Be Heard, “Being heard is so close to being loved that for the average person, they are almost indistinguishable.” The last one comes from a book I’m currently reading: When the Day Comes by Gabrielle Meyer, “We must take whatever joy can be found from each day and not borrow tomorrow’s sorrow.

What is your favorite season and why?

Normally fall, because I love how vibrant everything looks when the leaves turn gold and yellow and maroon. Come October, I’m usually anxious for cooler temps, as well. That said, this year feels a lot colder than I remember! (However, that could be because I’m taking a sweet little puppy out at various hours day and night.)

Which compliment related to your writing has meant the most and why?

I don’t remember word-for-word compliments, but I’m most encouraged when people receive encouragement from my writing or encountered God in a fresh way through it.

What is your favorite chore?

Isn’t that an oxymoron? Unless you count walking my sweet puppy as a chore.

What would you like to tell us about the featured book?

That I’ve always wanted to write a Christmas story, and this is my first. Woohoo! Although, in case you are asking about the content, I’ll share the back cover text:

A Christmas in the Hill Country … could lead to a new beginning. Country living is the last thing caregiver Evie Bell wants—but she goes where the work takes her. And this time, that’s a Texas ranch full of terrifying bulls and a handsome cowboy and single dad. Thankfully, the position is temporary. But spending time with Monte Bowman and his twin daughters while caring for his great-aunt will only make it harder to leave. Evie’s here to help this family—not join it. And there’s no place for her at Monte’s side…especially once he learns the secret she’s been hiding.

How can readers find your book on the Internet?

Amazon is probably the easiest location.

In addition to being a wonderful writer, Jennifer is an all-around great woman. Check out her books!
