Some encouragement for creatives

A life in the arts is not an easy one. Most of our efforts are behind closed doors, struggling alone for our art. There are so many ups and downs. We have moments of success and encouragement, and moments of doubt and discouragement.

So here are some encouraging thoughts:

  • Don’t compare your chapter one to someone else’s chapter twenty.

  • Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. ~ Calvin Coolidge

  • I don't know how my story will end, but nowhere in my text it will read, “I gave up.” ~Unknown

  • Creativity is a process, not a product.

  • Don’t wait until you publish your book or get a contract to be proud of yourself. Be proud of yourself every time you sit down to the keyboard or read a book on craft or go to a writers’ seminar. Be proud of every step you take to meet your goal. ~Megan DiMaria

  • If God has given you a dream, you’d better get cracking because He wants you to use it. ~Jan Karon

Write on, friends!
