I'm always pleased to share great writing opportunities with you. This is a good one because when you enter contests, you get valuable, unbiased feedback from industry professionals. This contest is specific to unpublished writers.
Sponsored by Faith, Hope and Love Christian Writers (FHLCW), The Touched By Love Contest is open to submissions until August 1st. So, get cracking!
Benefits of this contest:
You'll receive a scoresheet of your entry with comments from the judges (published authors). That's so valuable!
Each category’s winning entry will be sent to an agent/editor for review.
An overall winner will receive a two-month mentorship with best-selling, award-winning author Deborah Raney, author. This can be used for revision, questions and answers, regular meetings, etc, as the winner and mentor decide what works best for the two of them.
Entries consist of the first 20 pages of an original manuscript plus a two-page synopsis to be reviewed and scored by published authors.
Here's how the contest defines the entry categories:
Historical Christian Romance: Christian fiction set in a historical time period in which the love story is the main focus of the novel. Entries should be written by authors whose worldview, influenced by their faith in the God of the Bible, is woven into the fabric of their stories. Entries should not include inappropriate or gratuitous demonstration of sin, whether in language (profanity), violence, or sexual situations.
Contemporary Christian Romance: Christian fiction where the love story is the main focus of the novel. Entries should be written by authors whose worldview, influenced by their faith in the God of the Bible, is woven into the fabric of their stories. Entries should not include inappropriate or gratuitous demonstration of sin, whether in language (profanity), violence, or sexual situations.
Sweet Romance: Fiction set in a contemporary or historical time period in which a sweet love story is the main focus of the novel. Stories should be written from a Christian worldview but need not contain overt faith elements. They should not contain inappropriate or gratuitous demonstration of sin whether in language (profanity), violence, or sexual situations.
There are specific contest guidelines, so be sure to read through the rules carefully. The cost to enter is $20 or $25 (depending on membership) per submission, which is a fair price.
This contest could be a fast track out of the slush pile and a direct submission to an acquiring editor at a major publishing house!
Write on, friends!
