It's up to you—will your day be brilliant or awful?

We've all gotten up in the morning and thought, "This is going to be a terrible day."


Perhaps there was good reason for that judgment. But you can't allow bad expectations to color your reality because then you will have a lousy day.


The truth is that we have a choice each and every day. That choice will dictate what kind of day we'll experience. We have the power to create our attitude.

We can choose to feel blessed. Count your blessings, don't forget the good things you enjoy.


We can choose to be grateful. Sure, things aren't perfect, but appreciate what you have.


We can choose to be enthusiastic about the possibilities that lie before us. We can dive into the day with gusto or drag ourselves from minute to minute. Whichever we choose, we'll still spend that same 24 hours in the day.


We can choose to be thankful. Lift up your head and appreciate what you have. Keep your thoughts on the positive, not the negative.


We can choose to be happy. Put a smile on your face. Share a smile and someone will return it.


We can program our brains to give us happier days. One of my favorite verses admonishes us to guard our minds and choose our thoughts:


Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Philippians 4:8


I hope your week started out beautifully, but if it didn't then all's not lost. It's in your power to redeem the day and enjoy the rest of your week.
