I really needed a blogging break, so I gave myself one. I believe it's important to listen to your body, your heart, and your mind when all the clues are screaming, "Rest!"
I craved a bit of a rest, and Lent was a perfect time for quieting down the noise in my life. As the Bible says: Better to have one handful with quietness than two handfuls with hard work and chasing the wind. Ecclesiastes 4:6
Now I'm back to blogging, refreshed. I'm also looking forward to plenty of hours of productive plotting and writing.
So, if you need one, give yourself a break and then get back to work. Here are some strategies to accomplish your goals:
Wake up earlier. If you don't have enough uninterrupted hours in your day, get up 30 minutes earlier to get a headstart on the day.
Create boundaries. Saying no can save your sanity. You know best how to expend your time/energy.
Create a routine. Before you leave your room for the morning, make your bed. It starts the day with an accomplishment. Need to get x, y, and z done daily? Then get into a routine to do that. After a while, you don't even notice you're ticking off the chores that make your day.
Make note of appointments and assignments due in a calendar or notebook. Be sure to check your schedule, though.
Find what works for you and stick with it. You don't have to follow my routines to be successful. If you find a tactic works for you, stick with it.
If needed, give yourself a break, and then get back to work!
Write on, friends!
