Have you heard there's a new social network that caters to writers? It's Author Media Social. Social media can be a distraction. Even with good intentions, you might be in too many Facebook groups. Perhaps Author Media Social is just what you need.
Author Media Social is intended to be an easier way to connect with other authors and industry specialists without the hassle of traditional social media.
Although Facebook groups are one of the most common ways for authors to gather and share their thoughts, there are downsides. They attract spammers and bots. Also, Facebook is designed to catch and keep your attention, thus draining the time you need to write and connect with other authors.
Author Media Social was developed by Thomas Umstattd Jr., who has been involved in publishing for nearly 15 years. He also runs Author Media, a "business that helps authors learn how to build a platform, sell more books, and change the world with writing worth talking about."
I think this is a brilliant idea. It's at least worth checking out. For more information about Author Media Social, go to this blog post where you can read the facts and listen to a podcast explaining the new platform.
So, write on, friends! And, if you join Author Media Social, I'll see you there.
